Unknown Stories of NC Veterans. |
|
|
There are many unknown stories of NC Veterans. These stories can be short, or long, about big events or about small events. All of them are part of our history and should be preserved.
The stories are unknown because they have not been passed on to others, even between close friends. Because, they brought back bad memories or were not considered important.
Who is a NC veteran? As defined in the NC Military History Project it is someone who lived in NC when they entered service or after they finished the service.
These stories can be told by service records, photos, personal correspondence, and audio interviews. | |

I had over looked this book for years. A little black book about 3 X 5 inches, one day I looked inside and found it to be almost a dairy. It also had a list of names and address, most of whom I assume to be men in his unit. Their addresses were from many different locations. The dairy suddenly stopped. However I have some letters written after the dairy ends. My Dad was also a post card collector. So I have a collection of post cards from France as well as many USA locations. To see the dairy in PDF format, check on this link or post to your search window.

Memorial for all those who served in any branch of service in war or peace time. The Iwo Jima Survivors Association is trying to genenerate enough interest in the idea to get a memorial built. We have discussed the idea with the Winston-Salem Mayor and have over $5,000 collected by the end of 2007 . |
